The Art & Science of making beats

Words of Wisdom

When there’s a deadline there’s a context, a destination, a reason. Until that point it’s an experiment. Everything is in progress until there’s a reason to finish it. – Brian Eno

The equipment doesn’t matter, it’s the vibe you put into it. If music sounds good, music sounds good. – Madlib

Mixing our worlds is the only solution and only thing I’ll recommend to you. – Busy P

I’m telling you man, you just gotta… use your brain! – Madlib

Rastus Ravel (Is A Mean Old Man), written by John Edward, was 1st recorded by the London group, Heatwave, and released as a B-side, by Larry Page, on Penny Farthing Records in November 1970.

Heatwave, then with a new drummer, re-recorded the B-side instrumental (unpaid) as the backing track for John O’Hara.

The band later did the same (again unpaid) for Melody Smith.
