Rastus Ravel (Is A Mean Old Man), written by John Edward, was 1st recorded by the London group, Heatwave, and released as a B-side, by Larry Page, on Penny Farthing Records in November 1970.

Heatwave, then with a new drummer, re-recorded the B-side instrumental (unpaid) as the backing track for John O’Hara.

The band later did the same (again unpaid) for Melody Smith.
